'Devi Chaudhurani' is a remarkable novel by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. The heroine of this novel is Prafulla, who is an ordinary girl and her mother was very poor. They used to beg the family. She was very beautiful and talented in her childhood. She could do all the work, for that she was soon married to Brajeshwar, the only son of landlord Hariballav Roy. But she had to come back to her house soon after. Because her father-in-law drove her out of his house according to the society leaders. When Prafulla reached puberty, she returned to his father-in-law's house and she comes and finds that her husband re-marries two. Their names are 'Sagar' and 'Nayan'. After some days, her father-in-law again drove her from his house. Then the robber Sardar 'Bhabani Pathak' gave her shelter and her training continued there. After that, she became the corrupt robber queen 'devi chaudhurani'. History is known to her as Devi Chowdharani with a mix of some myths and fantasies. Bankim Chandra made her real by the quality of his writing. At the end of the story, the goddess Chaudhurani returned to her husband and removed her 'goddess' identity. She  went back to being 'Prafulla'.
