Hiralal Chakraborty was a renowned lawyer and writer. He was born in Majilpur in 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. Despite studying in extreme poverty, he did M.A. in three subjects and later studied law. He then continued to practice law in the Calcutta High Court. He received the Jagattarini Memorial Medal and the Parichand Memorial Medal. The book 'Hindu Law' is notable and also he wrote many law books.
