Among the mystery story writers of West Bengal, Shirshendu Mukherjee comes first. ‘Rahasya Samagra’ is a collection of his famous horror novels. The first story was published in Desh Patrika in 1959 under the title 'Jaltaranga'. Seven years later, his first novel, Ghun Poka, was published on the same magazine on pujabarshiki issue. Shirshendu Mukherjee received the Sahitya Akademi Award for his novel 'Manabjamin'.
